When CDs first arrived, the hype would have had us all believe that they were indestructible. Well, they might be less vulnerable to scratches than vinyl records, but if you've ever been careless enough to leave a CD, or even DVD, out of its case for a while, you'll know how easily they can get damaged. And you'll know how annoying it is when your favourite song, movie or game jumps, skips, stutters or just gets completely stuck.
Fortunately, most scratches on CDs and DVDs merely damage the transparent surface of the disc and not the reflective layer that actually contains the information. Our CD Scratch Repairer can fix this by smoothing out the scratches, so the disc can be read once more. The process is very simple. First you put the sand pads in with your damaged disc. Set it going for three minutes, and they sand down the surface of the disc by a tiny, tiny fraction. Next, pop in the repair pads with a couple of drops of fluid and wait three more minutes while your disc is cleaned and resurfaced. And that's it!
Most scratches can be fixed by going through this process once, but it can take two or more tries to deal with more serious damage. And you should bear in mind that if you're not getting any noticeable improvement after four or five attempts, your disc is probably too far gone. Still, it's usually worth a try seeing as this entire kit costs less than the price of most new CDs or DVDs.
