This article only applies to versions of Action Replay MAX that have the MAX Media Player feature. These were versions 3.3x to 3.5x and can be identified by the availability of the MAX Media Player icon on the home screen of Action Replay MAX.
The following are also required to perform the steps outlined in this article and are available to download from the bottom of the page:
The latest version of Max Media Creator (1.3) Installed on your machine.

When you have all of items above follow these easy steps.
- Now that you have downloaded CodeUpdate.elf, rename the file and call it autoexec.elf
- Now that you have downloaded Codelist_EU.bin, rename the file and call it codelist.bin
- OK, now open the Max Media Creator software
- Now that your files are renamed, were ready to add the autoexec.elf file and the codelist.bin file to a new Max Media Creator project (drag and drop them onto the file list window ).
- Insert a blank CDR and set CDR as the output method.
- Click ‘Create’ and then when prompted choose ‘Compatibility Mode 1’ on the burn options dialogue and burn your disc.
- Start Action Replay MAX (3.30 or later) and choose Max Media Player from the main menu.
- When Max Media Player has loaded, swap the Action Replay MAX disc for your codelist CDR.
- When the Codelist Updater runs, swap your CDR for your ARMAX disc wait a few seconds then swap it back when prompted.
- When the codelist loads choose the codes you would like to include on your codelist and then press ‘CIRCLE’ on your controller.
- When asked where you would like to save your codelist to, choose either memory card slot or USB Pen-drive if you have one by highlighting it and pressing ‘X’.
- Once complete, re-load Action Replay MAX with the device you saved the codelist to inserted in your PS2. The updated, customised codelist should be present.
