This is due to your TV not being compatible with the game’s picture encoding. To play imported games on a UK Wii, your TV must be NTSC-compatible. If you have an American or Japanese Wii, your TV must be PAL-compatible to play European games. America and Japan both use NTSC standard, so games from one region can be played on consoles from the other without difficulty.
