Using Action Replay GameCube

Q: When I play my NTSC game, why does it display in black and white?

A: Your TV needs to support NTSC 60htz or it will display in black and white. Some games allow you to choose 60htz on boot up, to do this hold the B button down while the game boots up. Selecting 60htz should fix the problem.

Q: Can I use the Action Replay cheats with my US/JAP game on my PAL (European) Gamecube?

A: Yes you can. Select the cheats you want to use (ensure the cheats are from the same region as your game), use the B button to go back and select Start game. When the prompt asks you to open the lid, before opening press the X button on your controller and select the correct regional flag which your game is from. Following the on screen instructions as usual.

Q: I can``t get the WaveBird to work with the Action Replay. Why not?

A: The WaveBird will work with the Action Replay but in order for the system to see it you will need to have the WaveBird turned on and press any button on the controller as the GameCube logo appears on the screen.

Q: Will I need to modify my Gamecube to install the Action Replay?

A: You do not need to "open" your Gamecube. The Action Replay is a universal software disc (like a game disc) which works with a cartridge inserted in a memory card slot to allow you to use cheat codes and enable the loading of import games on any Gamecube. This product does not invalidate your Gamecube warranty as you do not need to modify it in any way.

Q: Why doesn`t any GameCube recognize my Action Replay as a Memory Card?

A: There are two different versions of the GameCube Action Replay. If your Action Replay card has a purple AR sticker then you have the standard version of the GameCube Action Replay and the AR card will not be able to save game progress and the GameCube will not recognize it. But if your Action Replay card has a white AR sticker then you have the limited edition version of the GameCube Action Replay and the AR card will be able to save game progress.

Q: My GameCube PowerBoard is not responding within the GameCube Action Replay

A: Please contact us with specific details of your problem, including the version number of your Action Replay disc (this can be found printed on the underside of the disc circling the inner rim)

Q: What is an (m) code?

A: The "(M)" codes cannot be turned off or deleted. These codes are called "Master" or "Enable Codes" and they MUST BE ON for Action Replay to function properly. Each game title we have created Action Replay codes for will have an (m) code. When manually inputted the (m) code must be the first cheat entered above all others.

Q: When I go back into the (m) code it doesn`t appear to be there. Where is it?

A: As the (m) requires to be switched on for all/any of the codes to function so for security after it has been inputted the code disappear from view (but are still held within the Action Replay`s memory) so that this important code cannot be tampered with (edited changed or switched off) in any way.

Q: Can I change the cheat title?

A: You can give the individual cheats any title you see fit, however, the Action Replay MAX system does require a (M)/master code to be inputted into the system. However, as it requires to be switched on for all/any of the codes to function we have removed the (M) code title so that this important code cannot be tampered with (edited changed or switched off) in any way.

Q: I have tried entering an (m) code and a message appears stating that it is for a different game. What can I do?

A: Try deleting the codes from the code list completely and then re-entering them. If you are still having problems, you may need to reset your AR hardware. This can be done by going into options on the main menu and selecting reset hardware. Please note that resetting will erase any codes that have been manually inputted onto your system.

Q: How do I separate code lines of the AR?

A: When you hit "Done" at the end of inputting your 13 digits (1 st line), the next line (full of zeros) will appear (this is quite normal) but if you hit done again (without selecting any other numbers/letter) the code will input correctly.

Q: Why am I getting an Invalid Data message when I try to enter codes?

A: If you are getting an "invalid data" error message then you are entering the code in incorrectly, the GameCube Action Replay will know if the code is correct or not and will save the code accordingly. Try and make sure that you are typing in the number zero and not the letter O when required and that your 2`s and Z`s are not mixed up.

Q: I don`t know which to enter 0 or O?

A: The Action Replay for GameCube will read O and 0 as the same thing so there is no need to worry about which one to enter in.

Q: Will there be PSO codes for the GameCube?

A: We are not making any codes for Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II because we do not want to ruin others online experience.

Q: I am entering my (m) code into my AR Gamecube but when I go back to the code menu screen it appears yellow/blue and the code is not working, why is this?

A: If the code is appearing in a yellow colour then it has not been entered correctly. Double check you have put the correct codes in, ensuring that only the number 0 (not the letter o) is inputted and you 2`s and Z`s are not mixed up. Once the code becomes green or white, then it should be inputted correctly.
